Located on the eastern bank of the Magdalena River in front of the city of Barranquilla. It is just 1.5 km from the main roads that connect with the interior of the country and major cities of the Colombian coast, as Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta.

Its construction began in 2007, on July 20, 2008 was conducted the first operation with the unloading of the Gottwald crane and 4 months later began official operations. Since November 2008, the port is fully operational and receiving different types of cargo.

Among its advantages are highlighted his professional staff, location, expansion capabilities, its next-generation infrastructure and easy access to routes that have road and river connection. Only 56 kilometers separate Palermo Port Society from the intersection road into the country, without crossing traffic.
